Negative allergy test results help
a patient feel better
I’m a 47-year-old sales and marketing director. I travel a lot
for my job, and I love the outdoors. For more than 2 years, I’ve
experienced severe fatigue, even though I get 10 to 12 hours of
sleep every night. I thought maybe it was allergies. You see, four
years ago, I moved into a 50-year-old house and began several remodeling
projects. Although I’m in good health generally, after the move,
I began to notice a lack of focus and loss of interest in many
pastimes.
After an initial visit to my doctor, I
was diagnosed with allergic rhinitis. Complete blood work was
ordered – including chemical
panels – and they couldn’t find a thing. They even ordered a sleep
study. The last test I had was an ImmunoCAP® Allergy blood
test.
It turned out the allergy test was negative,
but that was exactly what the doctor needed to know to be able
to treat my symptoms and make me feel better. Once we knew allergy
wasn’t a factor,
I was able to get the right medications to resolve my symptoms,
and the sleep study was canceled.
